Orthex 10-year guarantee and the new EU guarantee legislation
At Orthex, we are proud of the quality, durability and long lifespan of our products. Our products are designed to last in everyday household use year after year.
For many years, we have offered a voluntary 10-year guarantee on selected product categories as a reflection of our commitment to long-lasting quality.
New EU guarantee information requirements from September 2026
From 27 September 2026, new requirements concerning consumer guarantee information apply across the European Union.
The requirements are part of the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (EmpCo) Directive and aim to provide consumers with clearer and more transparent information about product guarantees and durability.
As part of the new requirements, all consumer goods sold within the EU are covered by a minimum two-year legal guarantee. In addition, a new EU-wide GARAN label has been introduced for products covered by a free voluntary commercial guarantee exceeding two years and covering the entire product.
What does this mean for Orthex?
We will continue to offer our voluntary 10-year guarantee on selected product categories. As this guarantee exceeds two years, the new GARAN label will be displayed in connection with these products both in stores and online.
The GARAN label helps consumers easily identify products that are covered by a long-term commercial durability guarantee. Read more about the GARAN label on EU's official website.
Products covered by Orthex’s 10-year guarantee
Orthex’s voluntary 10-year guarantee applies to the following products and product categories:
- SmartStore™ storage boxes, excluding food storage boxes
- SmartStore™ Essence laundry products
- Orthex™ bins made from virgin plastic and approved for food contact
- Orthex™ baby bathroom products

The commercial guarantee is provided in addition to the consumer’s statutory rights under applicable consumer protection legislation. These statutory rights are not affected by Orthex’s voluntary 10-year guarantee.
Our commitment remains unchanged
The new legislation does not change the quality standards of Orthex products or the coverage of our voluntary 10-year guarantee. It simply introduces a harmonised way of communicating guarantee information across the European Union.
